Be aware that it’s the initial version of the beta open that is currently in the process of being developed. We anticipate requiring a few weeks of further tweaks to ensure it is stable. If you’d like to give it a test, you can help by submitting any bugs you discover in the relevant area of our forums. Your feedback and suggestions are important to us, and we would like to thank us for helping us.

Remember that this major update will likely render many mods for community use incompatible. Mod creators may have to modify and update their mods to accommodate the new version. We strongly suggest you do not use profiles with any third-party mods if you would like to participate within this beta version 1.40 Beta open to all.

Let’s find out what updates 1.40 will bring!

New visual lighting system

One of the significant modifications you’ll see as you enter the truck’s cab is introducing our new lighting system. Although it’s not entirely perfect, it’s an essential improvement in the direction that we must take to enhance the appearance and feel of games. This new system of lighting comes with internal HDR components and can adapt more quickly to changes in daylight all the time or various conditions of weather.

Our art team required several changes to our complete game object catalog, which includes the majority of games’ 3D and 2D materials, textures, and resources to better work with the updated physically-based model for the lighting system. Certain surfaces, such as our brand new HDR skyboxes, slightly increase resolution; however, currently, we’re limited in our ability to keep a reasonable performance even for mid-level GPUs and lower. We’re planning to add an article that is more in-depth to the “Under the Hood” series about this significant graphics overhaul shortly, including more details and comparison images.

We are thrilled to let you experience and experience driving in a completely new way. The result is the culmination of thousands of hours of effort by our team of programmers, Visual Effects artists, programmers, and a variety of other teams that are who are involved in the design and implementation of this new system.

In beta testing with the public, your feedback is critical and essential to us, so do not hesitate to leave us feedback to our 1.40 to American Truck Simulator section of our forum.

1.40 will also introduce the end of our project on Germany, which only a few mappers have spent the last few months working on.

If you are new to the game, The revision project Germany is a map group working hard to improve one of the oldest map sections of the game with a more realistic and refined design.

The major feature in this version is the total redesign and rework of all roads and highways in the game, which have not been touched on in the previous updates.

Additionally, the regions near Dortmund, Cologne, Dusseldorf, and Duisburg are not the only ones to get an entire revamp of their road networks. They also get several new roads and intersections! The southern section of Bundesautobahn 7 is also accessible with this update.

Live long, France! New Cities

With the upcoming release of the Iberia expansion to Euro Truck Simulator 2, we are sure that many drivers will be thrilled to progress slowly across Europe to traverse Iberia for the very first time. Because France is the entry point for the mainland of Europe towards Spain and Portugal, Our team is currently working on 2 new French areas that will become included in the free Vive La France! DLC update coming soon. The first will be Bayonne, situated in southwestern France and is the capital city of the French Basque Country and an important hub of transportation for drivers who want to travel towards Spain due to its location near the border. The other location is the small town of Lac, located within Po County. This small town will only be a tourist draw for most people; Lac is home to the largest refinery of oil in France.
The entire region includes two new hubs connecting them in Toulouse and Bordeaux and will be included as a free update for Vive La France! In addition, a DLC version of Euro Truck Simulator 2 that was initially announced will be released along with the release of Iberia. But, as they are already in development and are available, we thought it was a pleasant surprise to add them at the start in this new update.

Super Stripes Paint Jobs Pack Update

The latest ETS2 DLC will also receive an update very soon. Two incredible designs from the Super Stripes Paint Jobs Pack have been extended and are now available to their trailers! The two paint options selected as the update’s theme were based on a social media test. In November, we posted short and almost small messages on Facebook in which we urged our fans to vote on the DLC designs they enjoyed the most. Today, we’re pleased to announce the news that our two most loved designs will be updated to ensure that everybody can use these on trucks and trailers!

Your participation and involvement on our social media platforms really counts! We are eager to see the gorgeous combinations you can make on your vehicles. This could be a great opportunity for a VTC to update their online corporate image!
